Guidelines for choosing a Godparent:
You technically need only one Godparent who must be a fully initiated Catholic (received the Sacraments of Baptism, Communion and Confirmation).

Many parents choose two Godparents. If this is the case, the following is necessary:
- One Godparent must be male and one female
- At LEAST one must be fully initiated CATHOLIC
- One can be a baptized Christian who is non-Catholic and of sufficient maturity to appreciate the role being taken.
