REFLECTION QUESTIONS FOR CANDIDATES AND SPONSORS SESSION ONE
After watching the video “A Family of Faith” and the follow-up video, please spend at least fifteen minutes discussing these reflection questions with each other. If either of you has come up with other questions as you are talking FEEL FREE to use them instead or in addition to those listed below. Both the candidate and sponsor should answer the questions.
- What are some family traditions/customs, which your family has taught you concerning faith/religion?
- Who in your family is/was mainly responsible for teaching you about God & religion?
- How has your Confirmation Preparation impacted your family?
- What are some of the family events/traditions, which are going to surround your Confirmation?
- What religious customs/traditions that your family has taught you would you like to pass along to your children?
- Maggie DeVita shared a poem at the end of the video. Pick one phrase, line or thought that “hits home” or connects with you. Explain why to your partner.

These questions are designed just to help you find out a little bit more about each other.
- What is your favorite food?
- Who is your favorite cartoon character and why?
- Sponsor share with your candidate a dream you have always wanted to fulfill, yet haven’t yet done so. Candidates share with your sponsor a dream you hope to accomplish by the age of 30.
- Candidates please share with your sponsor one thing that causes you the most stress. Sponsors give some advice on how to deal with that stress.
- Sponsors please share one of the biggest problems which teenagers faced when you were a teen. Candidates share the biggest problem facing teenagers today.
- Candidates, who influences your life the most right now? Sponsors, same question.
