What is my child learning this month?
During session one, we focused on knowing Jesus through prayer.
Bringing this session home
Below is a simple family prayer and a family prayer activity.
Daily Family Prayer:
Almighty God, we thank You that You give our lives purpose and meaning - May our prayers to You have purpose and meaning as well. At all times let us be mindful that You alone are God as we enter into Your presence through prayer.
Amen
Parent/Child Prayer Activity:
- Teach your child the Our Father, the Hail Mary, and the Glory Be and make sure that they are committed to memory. Click here if you need a copy of the prayers.
- This month, your child watched a video in class about how to pray. In the video, the acronym ACTS was used as a way to remember types of prayer. Ask your child to explain this to you. Click here to watch the video.
- Assign one of the letters of ACTS to four different days of the week.
- On each Monday, give prayers of adoration to God. (Prayer of Adoration)
- On each Tuesday, pray asking God to forgive you and your family for sins that have been committed. (Prayer of Contrition)
- On each Wednesday, give a prayer of thankfulness for all of the blessings God gives. (Prayer of Thanksgiving)
- Finally, on each Thursday, pray for someone in the church who needs special comfort, healing, or wisdom. (Prayer of Supplication)

Take some time to begin to reflect on your personal and family prayer life.
- Do you pray? Why or why not?
- Do your children know that you pray? Why or why not?
- How can you pray together as a family?
- Do you talk about God and prayer in your family conversations? Why or why not?
This month, have some conversations with your child about times when God has helped you in your life.
