Belief: Something considered to be true

Original Sin: The sin that Adam and Eve committed and the sinful condition that all human beings have from birth.

Sin, Mortal: An action or offense so seriously against God's will that it completely separates a person from God.

Sin, Venial: An action or offense against God's will that weakens our relationship with God and others and that hurts our personal characters; venial sins are not so serious that they cause complete separation between us and God.

Free will: The gift from God that allows us to choose what we do.  It is the basis for our moral responsibility.

Temptation: Something that makes sinful things seem fun, exciting, or even good to do.

Gifts of the Holy Spirit: Special gifts or graces we receive from God that help us live the way God wants us to live.  The 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit are: Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel (or Right Judgement), Fortitude (or Courage), Knowledge, Piety (or Reverence), and Fear of the Lord (or Wonder and Awe)

Virtues: Good habits that develop and help us consistently do the right thing.  The four cardinal virtues are prudence, justice, temperance, and fortitude.  The three theological virtues are faith, hope, and love (or charity).
