GLOSSARY

GOSPEL: Literally means "The Good News". The Gospel of Jesus Christ means the Good News of Jesus Christ. The four Gospel books (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) tell the story of the life of Jesus.
  
NEW TESTAMENT: The second portion of the Christian Bible. Originally written in Greek, it records the life and teachings of Jesus and his early followers.
  
EPISTLE: a letter or other form of written communication. For example, the Epistle of St. Paul to the Romans is actually a letter written by St. Paul to the Christian Community that was located in Rome.

APOSTLE: Someone who is sent out on a mission. From all of his disciples, Jesus chose twelve to be his Apostles. Once they had been taught by Jesus, He sent them out to proclaim the Good News that the Messiah had come!

DISCIPLE: A student or follower of a mentor or teacher. In our case here, a personal follower of Jesus during His lifetime. The twelve Apostles were also disciples.
  
ZEALOT: A member of a Jewish movement of the first century a.d. that fought against Roman rule in Palestine. They believed that the Romans who believed in multiple gods had no right to rule over those people who followed the one true God.
