Women's Cornerstone
This is 26-hour Parish-based retreat given by women of the Parish for women of the parish.  It is both a religious and social experience.  A core team meets for a year to plan and pray before giving a Cornerstone retreat.  On the weekend itself, members listen to stories of faith, share meals, sleep on premises, and pray.  Each participant has the opportunity to reflect on her own faith in both large and small groups as well as quietly with God.  There are special sacramental celebrations of Reconciliation and a closing Eucharistic liturgy.  Following the retreat, there are several opportunities throughout the year for women to remain connected to the Cornerstone community. Go to the next page (more) for dates and our new brochure.  Any questions, call:

Men's Cornerstone

All men are invited to a peaceful, relaxing and special 26 hour retreat. This is an opportunity to recognize what is most important in your life and the role God has played on your journey. Are you looking for perspective, clarity and faith? Then Men’s Cornerstone is for you; don’t miss this chance to experience something great.

Cornerstone is a 26 hour event for men, which begins  at 7 pm on Friday and ends at 9 pm Saturday. It is  held in the Parish Center at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.   Cornerstone provides an opportunity to learn more  about your relationship with God and how He has had and continues to have a role in your life. This get-together can help provide you with a greater understanding of your faith. It is not a Bible study group and is not what you may envision. Give it a try, you won’t regret it. Meals are provided for the duration of the event.

MOMS (Ministry of Motherhood)
The MOMs group is a dynamic and diverse group of new and experienced mothers who share a commitment in making Christ the center of thier families' lives.  They do this by supporting, praying, sharing, and learning from each other.  MOMs meet on the first Wednesday morning of each month.  Child care is available for walking children.  The monthly meetings will generally feature a guest speaker as well as group sharing and prayer.  The group offers a variety of interest groups that meet regularly.  In addition, MOMs sponsors many Parish-wide social events that help to build a sense of community among their spouses and all parishioners.
Peace and Justice
The purpose of the Peace and Justice Ministry at Mt. Carmel is threefold:  to pray, to educate and to advocate.  Social justice is a call that comes to us through scripture and the life of Christ.  We find our focus through prayer and discernment, where we at Mt. Carmel can best effect social justice.  Using the expertise of the broader Catholic community and those involved locally in justice on a day-to-day basis, we continue to educate ourselves through discussions with practitioners.  Through prayer and knowledge we can, as a community, advocate for the rights of those who are marginalized in our community, the nation and the world.  The grouop meets as needed but keeps in communication through email each week.

Through the Spanish Apostolate, our Parish seeks to reach out to the pastoral needs of our Spanish-speaking brothers and sisters, most especially newly-arrived immigrants.  The highlight of the Apostolate is the 3 PM Sunday Eucharist, which is usually followed by refeshments, ESL classes, and immigration assistance in the Parish Center.

Youth Service Team
Anyone from the 8th grade through high school.  The Youth Group meets Wednesday nights from September to June, 7:30-9:30 PM.  We talk, do homework, play games, play pool, make food, eat and pray together at the end of the night.  Under the Youth Group program, we also hold sleep over nights at the Youth Center and team up with the Archdiocese for a program such as the annual Catholic Youth Day at Six Flags Great Adventure.
