Women's Cornerstone
This is 26-hour Parish-based retreat given by women of the Parish for women of the parish. It is both a religious and social experience. A core team meets for a year to plan and pray before giving a Cornerstone retreat. On the weekend itself, members listen to stories of faith, share meals, sleep on premises, and pray. Each participant has the opportunity to reflect on her own faith in both large and small groups as well as quietly with God. There are special sacramental celebrations of Reconciliation and a closing Eucharistic liturgy. Following the retreat, there are several opportunities throughout the year for women to remain connected to the Cornerstone community. Go to the next page (more) for dates and our new brochure. Peace and Justice
The purpose of the Peace and Justice Ministry at Mt. Carmel is threefold: to pray, to educate and to advocate. Social justice is a call that comes to us through scripture and the life of Christ. We find our focus through prayer and discernment, where we at Mt. Carmel can best effect social justice. Using the expertise of the broader Catholic community and those involved locally in justice on a day-to-day basis, we continue to educate ourselves through discussions with practitioners. Through prayer and knowledge we can, as a community, advocate for the rights of those who are marginalized in our community, the nation and the world. The grouop meets as needed but keeps in communication through email each week.
