Baptismal Preparation
The Sacrament of Baptism is a time of great joy for our parish community. In preparation for the reception of this Sacrament by our children, instruction (called catechesis) is given to all parents. We encourage godparents to take advantage of this opportunity as well. The meetings are held at the home of a Baptismal Host couple and include a general catechesis on Baptism, and an overview of the liturgy of the sacrament. This meeting gives the parents an opportunity to come together to meet and share the joy of the occasion and to learn more about ongoing parish activities.

Children must have attended RE beginning in the first grade, or attended Parochial School in order to participate in the process of preparation. In the Spring/Winter there are meetings with the parents to explain the details of this process.

Adult Confirmation
For baptized Catholics over the age of 18 years, who wish to be confirmed, the journey is through the RCIA which meets on Sunday mornings at 11:00 AM in the Meeting Room below the Church. Those seeking Adult Confirmation will walk together with others in the RCIA who either desire to enter the Catholic Church from another Christian church or through Baptism. The Sacrament of Confirmation for adults is normally administered once a year during the Easter Season.

Marriage Preparation
The Marriage Preparation program emphasizes preparation for the spiritual reality of the sacrament of marriage. However, far from being a theoretical reflection on marriage, this spiritual dimension is discussed through the lived experiences of married couples that share stories of their marriage and their lives that show God’s presence and love. Specific talks are given on: the transition from single life to married life; sexuality; responsible parenthood; and the mission of the family. Witness talks are followed by some quiet reflection by the engaged couple. The sessions conclude with a catechesis on the subjects that often incorporate important church teaching from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Humanae Vitae, or Pope John Paul II’s The Theology of the Body. Each course concludes with a Mass and dinner.
The next Marriage Preparation program will run on the following dates:
Friday Sept. 11 2009 7:30PM
Friday Sept. 18 2009 7:30PM
Friday Sept. 25 2009 7:30PM
Sunday Sept. 27 2009 4:40PM
There are a total of four sessions, couples need to attend all of them.
Please come to the first session on Sept. 11th at 7:15PM so that we can take your information and register you. Thank you.

RCIA for Adults and Children
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a spiritual journey of faith to discover what it means to follow Jesus as a Catholic Christian. The RCIA welcomes those who are not baptized, those who are baptized Christians and wish to enter the Catholic Church and baptized Catholics who wish to complete their Sacraments of Initiation through First Eucharist and/or Confirmation. The Rites or “mileposts” along the journey help to continually discover God’s path and expectations for each person. The RCIA meets on Sunday mornings at 11AM and inquiries are encouraged at any time of the year.
